I am so excited that the new 2016 Craftsy Block of the Month class is up...and it's FREE again this year! I have a soft spot for these because it was the 2012 BOM class that first introduced me to this amazing company. I was instantly hooked and the lessons I've learned over the past three years have definitely improved my quilting and expanded my horizons. It's been a blast.
This time around Lynette Jensen shares her Garden Charm Quilt which builds out from the centre medallion through a series of borders and blocks. She offers tips and instructions with each lesson which are worth watching even if you don't plan to make the whole quilt. I'm going to use fabric from my stash but you can also purchase the class quilt kit (at a deal price!). The fabrics are really pretty and as I've found in the past BOM years, it is so much easier to follow along if you're using the same fabrics as the instructor. I had just placed an order for a bunch of fabric so I can't smuggle in any more but I am very, very tempted!
As always, I encourage you to check out this and all the free classes at Craftsy. They are so worthwhile, cost you nothing, and remain in you personal 'classroom' forever. I refer back time and time again and am so thankful to have access to all those amazing teachers whenever I need them. I love these Block of the Month classes in particular because they allow me to play along in small chunks. I have a whole month to finish the homework and it is so doable in this format...one block or section at a time. It's inspiring without being overwhelming and at the end of the class you have either a quilt to show for it, some great blocks in your repertoire, expanded quilting knowledge, and usually, all three and more! I've made some lovely virtual friends because of Craftsy too!
Ok, I've watched the introduction and January's block lesson. I have to go do my homework: gather my fabric and get the centre section done. Happy New Year!
I'm in! Isn't that scrumptious?!
So glad you blogged it, I.probably would've missed the start!
