Hello, hello! It has been over 4 weeks since my mum died and I can't believe how fast time goes. The sale of her home goes through today and even though my garage looks like a storage locker, I feel like things are getting back to organized and on schedule. For the first time in ages, I have no workmen coming over, no appointments on the calendar, and nothing that must be done other than a few phone calls. I got on the treadmill first thing since although I haven't put on any weight I'm feeling rather squidgey!
I am also proud of myself for making a couple pots of comforting soups, getting my final stashed vintage sewing machine cleaned up and running, and even pulled off a tray of homemade biscuits. I got the recipe from the new Craftsy class Tea Breads, Biscuits, Scones & More, which is definitely one I couldn't resist signing up for once I saw the intro video and the scrumptious and quick treats shared! I was already pretty happy with my Biscuit Recipe (here's the video) but this new one, along with the amazing technique shared by Chef Martin Philip, yielded the most tender, flakey-layered biscuits I've ever made! Yum! Can't wait to try the scones and vanilla pound cake! (Good thing I'm back on that treadmill!). There are so many new classes being offered over at Craftsy so definitely check them out.
I am really going to try to get back to regular posts and I have several things to share including one of those soup recipes, my fantastic Singer 431G, and a cleaning gadget that's made my life much easier. I'm even going to be sewing soon as I pack up one of my little portable Singer Featherweight 221 machines and some pre-cuts to join my hubby on a conference trip for a day or two. It will be a good chance for me to unwind and get in some uninterrupted stitching time in the hotel room. Have a great day!
