Step 1 of the moving process has begun. We are cleaning, moving small stuff, and getting furniture and utilities delivered and installed, respectively. I'm tired already but also can't sleep with excitement and adrenalin!
My workshop has been transported to the new space and awaits the electrician and installer to arrive next week. Monday is a holiday in Canada which buys me some time to get things organized but also delays gratification! With an extremely impatient nature, that is torture to my psyche!!!
The revised cutting table estimate didn't go low enough but when we finally got the keys to the new house we discovered a sort of shelf/bench type structure in the cold room. I immediately got my designer hat on and thought of using it for the cutting table base. With some casters and a wide countertop surface added I think it could work! I asked my contractor to think about what he could do and I am excited to see if his quote will match my budget (or even better, be way under it so I can add some more vintage machines to my collection! ;)
I had a big disappointment with regard to a desired acquisition but I did add this Centennial beauty to the line-up. She is a 1951 'special badge' edition and cleaned up very well. She has a stinky case but I am working on that. This Featherweight sews beautifully despite a wonky bobbin case latch and with a few products on route from April 1930's she will be outfitted with a new LED light, drip pan liner, and fresher smelling case!
Tomorrow I will post pics of my 221 case revitalization. I'm so pleased with the results! The next week is going to be non-stop moving and unpacking but I'm trying to keep the big picture in view. Knock wood, things are going according to plan. We've had a terrible time with my mother's health and now that she is finally out of the hospital we are hoping she can get her strength back and return to her normal routine. I have had a roller coaster of emotions over the last 4 weeks and am totally ready for a little calm in my life. There has been so much good mixed with some serious bad and the old stress meter has been in overdrive. The kids, hubby and I did take a quiet two minutes to stand together in our new home and toast the next journey. When we moved into our current house we were changing the babies' diapers and in this house they are drinking our champagne!
