I have so many things to share with you! My mother is off to my sister's so I'm hopeful that I can get lots done while she's gone and get some posts written. Today I'm following up on a variety of products I've purchased to let you know how things are going...(I will link the original post in case you missed it and want to know what I'm talking about! You can also click on the photos to see them larger).
Tortuga Rum Cake: Hubby came through and managed to grab the variety pack of alternate flavours of the amazing Tortuga Rum Cakes. As I wrote, there are five additional flavours but I've only tried the coconut one so far. It basically tasted exactly the same as the Golden Original with Walnuts except for the texture of the coconut. The rum flavour is so dominant that I'm sure it will be a similar taste experience with the other ones too - not that I'm complaining!
Herb Container: I posted about the plastic herb container son bought me on January 2nd so it has been 16 days so far and the parsley is still looking fresh and usable. There are a few yellow leaves but overall the herb has definitely fared better than being in a plastic bag. I usually wouldn't need to keep fresh herbs for three weeks but the container gets a thumbs up for living up to its claims. The only problem I found was that it's a little awkward lifting the lid and getting the herbs out (especially with such a giant bunch of parsley). There you go, Joe from Ohio! I like the herb container - it works well!
Foot Pedal Get-a-Grip: I started using the Get-a-Grip from Martelli ten days ago and have been doing a lot of sewing. That foot pedal hasn't budged an inch! Two big thumbs up (so far) for this no-slip pedal mat; it works like a charm! I have been creating a lot of batting and flannel dust bunnies as well as threads and dog hair so after I took the photo I cleaned up the pad with a lint roller. It came up beautifully and like new (the instructions say to keep the pad free of dirt and thread). I do have a slight dent where I suppose my heel hits the material but I can rotate and flip the Get-a-Grip to avoid making the dent worse. Love this product!
Enamel Pot Cleaner: I did indeed go back to the store and purchased some Enamel Pot cleanser made by Lagostina for $7.99. As I wrote, my old Dutch oven is quite stained and the liquid cleaner is supposed to remove them. I tried it and...it didn't make a lick of difference to my pot (the photo is 'after'). Granted, the old Dutch oven is a) worn and b) a cheap knock-off so I was probably not going to get great results anyway. I think the enamel is so thin that there isn't much left to restore. I didn't exactly take great care of it either, using high heat and scrubby pads to clean it. The gorgeous new Dutch oven is perfect and so far, has cleaned up nicely. I will try the cleaner on it and let you know in the future if I get better results.
Omnigrid Glow-Line Tape: I bought this neon, low-tack marking tape to help quickly see the lines on my quilt ruler as I trimmed up the Frozen quilts. Love, love, love this product! It made lining up my cuts so much faster and easier and was simple to apply and remove. I also marked the square edges which I used to trim the corners and it helped so much. I used the pink roll and the orange would work on the yellow rulers I have as well. I'm sure I have some triangle and specialty rulers that are black so I can use the yellow roll on those. Two thumbs up for Glow-Line Tape!
This post caught me up on 5 things I wanted to update but there's a lot more to come. I've got a few great recipes, some new nail polish, and of course I want to show off my second finished Frozen quilt. I have a bunch of awesome books to review as well, not to mention brand new Craftsy classes! Please come back...
Oh I'll be back! Love love love this post catching up with your reviews on products. We share the same "tastes" in many things and I always am interested in reading reviews before trying anything. Cheers!
