My daughter sent me this link for Oreo Rice Krispie Treats from Chef in Training. Her friend's mother had them waiting for her when she came home from university and DD wanted that same 'surprise'. Fortunately, Rice Krispie Treats are pretty quick and easy to make and I whipped them up last minute before she arrived home for the holidays.
I always use the microwave to make my RK treats because it's super fast. I also always use only 5 cups of cereal (versus 6 in the recipe) and full-size marshmallows (they have to be Kraft Jet Puffed for the best flavour) because I like them extra sticky and mallow-y flavoured. I crushed the Oreos in a zipper bag with a meat tenderizer mallet and added the cookies pieces in with the Rice Krispies.
We all thought this treat variation was a hit and I would definitely make them again. Hubby commented that the two flavours were a perfect pair and he really enjoyed the combination. It's hard to go far wrong with a homemade Rice Krispie treat and whether using the original recipe or the Oreo version, I'm sure they will get devoured. Yum!
