I pin on a hard floor and I put the pin in straight until it hits the floor, then turn it, and that's how I know it goes all the way through. It can scratch the floor though. Otherwise, I miss the backing, too. I don't pin any closer than 6" or so in a big quilt.


I love your quilt! It will be beautiful when it's finished.
I have made two king sized quilts, one pinning and one spraying. I can no longer kneel so had my hubby help. We both huffed and puffed a lot. I love the spray method best. It is quicker and all holds together beautifully. I will use that in future.
