I have had my Machingers quilting gloves since I first started free-motion quilting. I bought them from Leah Day after listening to her recommendation in her videos. I've since heard and read many a quilter swear by these grippy and supportive craft gloves.
Machingers have soft, flexible fingertip grips that cling to fabric and help you get a good hold - excellent for free-motion quilting of course. I even use them when I'm adding binding or doing straight-line quilting. They are form fitting, breathable, and offer excellent hand and wrist support. I initially purchased a pair of quilting gloves that have the little white dots on them, which are very similar to gardening gloves. I found them too loose (and hot!) and I couldn't do anything else with them on. Machingers have more of a stocking fit and I can change a bobbin or pull up a thread easily while wearing them.
I just washed my gloves for the first time and boy, did they need it! Lint and dye from the fabric make them pretty grungy. I followed the care instructions on the package and used my favourite quilt soap, Soak Wash, to gently hand-wash the gloves. They came out very nicely and smell wonderful! I certainly couldn't quilt without my Machingers and I know why so many quilters highly recommend them - and I do too!
I love mine too but they really need a bath! :)
