I have always loved the look of Tumbler quilts. I picked up this template from Marti Michell and I think I will be adding this quilt pattern to my 'to do' list.
The template allows you to cut 8 different sizes of tumblers. The included instructions are awesome! There are two actual quilt patterns, a page all about tumbler quilts and various ways of arranging the blocks, how to use the ruler (of course) with tips on how to cut using pre-cuts, how to cut from scraps, right-handed and left-handed directions, how to determine finished sizes of quilts, how to sew the tumblers together, and how to finish the quilt. It's like getting a book as well as the template!
I am always slightly intimidated about sewing weird shapes together (I still haven't made a triangle quilt for that reason) but this looks fairly easy because of the notched corners - engineered so the pieces will align perfectly for sewing. Now that I am accumulating a larger stash of fabric, I think this will be an excellent way to use up some of the leftover scraps from my other projects.
