I bought a pack of these sticky paper lint rollers for my hubby and I went back and got a set for my sewing room too. They are only a couple bucks at the discount store and work like a charm for picking up all those dog hairs and stray threads.
We have a Yellow Lab and when my hubby wears a dark suit it's impossible to keep the fur away. He only has himself to blame as he now allows the dog to lie on the sofa (after about six years of me keeping the dog OFF the furniture!). If hubby comes home for lunch he needs to use the lint roller before he goes back to work!
I read a tip about using a sticky lint roller in the sewing room and thought it was a great idea. Not only is it useful for cleaning up the cutting mat after preparing fabric but also on the quilt top itself to remove stray threads before quilting. There's nothing worse than finishing a quilt and realizing a dark thread is showing under light fabric. I also use it on my homemade pressing board which seems to attract and hold onto loose thread.
One more great use for the lint roller is when using Minky fabric. After cutting this fuzzy stuff there are flurries of fur every where! An alternative to pulling out a vacuum, the sticky paper roller is a quick and easy way to collect all the fuzzies before they get all over the place. This is a very useful and cheap gadget for so many hairy situations! The used paper strips are peeled away revealing a new, super sticky surface. I've been pulling off sheet after sheet and it doesn't seem to be getting any smaller! Two thumbs up!
