I seem to have accumulated a collection of templates over the past couple of years. The smaller ones have been lost in the shuffle, stored in my fabric cabinet and have fallen subject to the 'out of sight, out of mind' trap. Since I just purchased a new tumbler template I decided to gather them all in one place and figure out a better storage system.
Hanging rulers and templates seems to work best for me. I have my long rulers and squares underneath my counter top hanging on the sides of my cabinet and on both sides of my rolling island. I use Command hooks and they work so well so I went and got some smaller ones for these lighter templates.
I added the hooks to the side of my upper drawer unit and made sure to leave them for the one hour period before hanging the templates. My kitchen scale allowed me to group the templates so I didn't exceed the 250 gram limit on these smaller hooks. I was able to hang up my Tri-Recs pair, my binding tool, triangle tool, hexi, and Dresden blade. Unfortunately, the new Tumbler template doesn't have a hole in it. I feel better knowing these are safely out of the cabinet so they won't get broken and are easily accessible - and inspiring - right above my work space. I sure do love those Command products! I even went back for more so I could hang up my scalloped edge template and flying geese template.
