Now the second quilt of my three is done. I quilted Dressed to the Nines on the Grace frame with a simple meander. The stitch quality was very good and I didn't have any major tension issues. There are a couple of spots on the back where there is a hint of eye-lashing but I think that is probably where my bobbin thread was running out and getting loose.
It was nice not to have to worry so much about hitting the take up bar and not having room for my design, an issue for me with pantographs in the small 9" throat space on the 1600P machine. I tried to be mindful of the quilting area before I started each pass and not dip down too low. It can get tricky though, to maintain a very random looking meander when you have to basically keep in line with the row. It's much harder to deviate from the path higher and lower when you must fill in the space while you are 'there'.
Binding was a breeze and I think the black trim really frames the quilt nicely. I really like this one! Despite having a good 'thumb size' meander, it's still kind of a stiff quilt. I did wash it, of course, but maybe it needs a few more turns in the laundry to soften up.
Now I only have the Spools quilt left to quilt. I need to spray baste that one and the garage is still too dirty with winter muck to get my tables out there. This winter has gone on forEVER and I am really done with it!
