I signed up for the Craftsy Elegant Embroidered Quilts with Amanda Murphy class because it combined my two favourite things: machine embroidery and quilting. I still feel very green using my Janome 350e embroidery machine and any time I can get ideas on what to use it for, I'm happy!
This class is a great way to meld the two crafts. Instructor Amanda Murphy has created two pillows, three quilts, and a runner as class projects combining both machine embroidery and quilting. I want to make all of them - they look so easy and beautiful. I am definitely pushing the Garden Walk Runner to the top of my 'to do' list because the embroidery is so pretty! I have actually been missing my embroidery machine lately and as much as I want to start one of my quilts, I think I have to let the 350e have its turn first. It looks like a fairly quick project to complete so I think I will try to get going this week.
Amanda supplies the embroidery files for each project in the various formats available, as well as the patterns. She gives tips for piecing, doing the embroidery, AND the final quilting so there's a lot of information in this class. If you want to check it out, you can use this link and read the overview of the class, check out the lesson plan, see what materials are needed, and meet Amanda. I'm really excited to get started and create some quilted projects with added machine embroidery.
