I'm all for preparing for the future but I think I have a problem! I have the next SIX quilt projects I want to sew lined up on my counter. I have selected the patterns I'm going to use and the fabric has been chosen, purchased, delivered, and labelled.
I keep finding new inspiration in the awesome Craftsy classes I've signed up for (that's a whole other addiction!), all the quilt books I keep adding to my fabric orders, and now in the magazines I seem to be unable to resist buying at the store or subscribing to. Even with dedicated daily stitching it would take me at least 4-5 months to complete everything - and that would be without the interruptions of housework, dog walking, exercise, work, travel, family, and...oh, eating. Not to mention the Block of the Month quilt for the Craftsy class I'm working on and a couple other ufos hanging around my workshop.
I know that being an empty nester during the weekdays will offer me more time in the workshop/sewing room but I imagine I'll also want to scrapbook occasionally, catch up on my favourite shows starting in the new Fall schedule, and maybe even leave the house once in a while.
I don't mind having projects at the ready but the issue is that in the meantime I will undoubtedly see more new Craftsy classes I have to take, more great patterns to try, and of course, more luscious fabric I just have to have! I think I need to go on a quilting-stuff diet and stay off my bookmarked sites and maybe freeze my credit card in a block of ice. (Darn, I've memorized the number!)
As I struggle with this affliction I guess the best course of action would be to deplete the current line-up of USOs (unSTARTED objects) so that I can be free to start fresh with a new source of inspiration. So if you don't see me sharing any newly purchased stuff it's because I'm making a concentrated effort to use what I have...before it becomes vintage in my eyes!
I was thinking the same thing. I have so many projects I can't keep up.
I will slow down but first I need some more Aspen Frost, In from the cold, and Honeysweet is a must have. Lol. I am passing time waiting for Camille's new Craftsy's class.
