There are so many cute and easy quilts in the Quilting Quickly magazine I showed you last month but the one that just jumped into my heart is the Dressed to the Nines quilt. It's a simple disappearing 9-patch but the fabric is just gorgeous!!! It's part of the Day for Night collection by Rosemarie Lavin for Windham Fabrics. I noticed in the pattern that a kit was available from MissouriQuiltCo.com and even though the shipping is quite expensive to Canada, I decided I just had to have that beautiful black and white patterned fabric and eye-catching accent green.
The kit came with 4 charm packs and yardage for the inner and outer borders, and binding. Unfortunately, I was unable to buy any extra yardage for the backing fabric since they had sold out of everything in the line. I was happy to at least be able to get the kit and I ended up ordering some fabric from Connecting Threads for the backing. It is an acceptable compliment - other than the background is slightly off-white compared to the background of the Day for Night line. I couldn't tell in the on-line photos so I took a chance. I don't think it will matter that much in the end...people will (hopefully) be dazzled by the quilt top!
This is going to be a fairly fast project to complete. It's one of the 6 that I said I had lined up...I'm just not sure where in the line-up it will be! Stay tuned!
