We finally got around to clearing out the storage area under the stairs. It always gets to be a bit of a disaster over the winter as Christmas decorations come out and get put back, suitcases are tossed in after vacation, and winter clothes bins are rummaged through by the kids.
It's not going to end up as the 'after' photo in any organizing catalogues but there is a lot more room now. I was very brave and actually sacrificed all my sewing machine boxes! That was really hard for me to do since I have liked keeping the original boxes for electronics since I was a kid. However, my Janome boxes were all huge and taking up way too much space! I was hoping hubby didn't actually notice how many there were!
One funny thing I pulled out was my original eee-lec-tronic typewriter from university - the Canon Typestar 6. I still have the AC adapter, carrying case, and manual and the kids thought it was hysterical when I fired her up for a demonstration. It sure was fancy back in the day, with its thermal-transfer silent typing, 32x26 dot printing, and SUPER storage capacity of about 2,000 characters (one letter size page)!
I actually have 2 replacement ribbon cassettes in my cupboard so there is no reason one of my kids could not use this beauty in their university classes! Cool!
