Parts of the new Fantasyland in Disney World were open on our last visit but this year we could actually enter the 'land', walk around, and try some new rides.
The first thing you see is Maurice's Cottage where Belle holds a story-time 'adventure'. (With two 17-year olds, we didn't do this one). Then you arrive in Belle's Village and Gaston's tribute to himself, a grand fountain. Gaston happened to be there doing a meet and greet and he was just wonderful! Spot on and full of himself! (not my kid, btw!)
Next was the Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid ride. You board a giant clamshell and ride through a musical telling of the story. You can also take photos with the real Ariel - a perfect mermaid if I ever saw one!
The highlight of the new Fantasyland and the big finish to our visit was dinner at the Be Our Guest restaurant. I booked 3 months in advance and
even then our reservation was for 8:25 pm! After checking in at the Beast's Castle gate we were led to our table by his servant...at his request, of course!
Inside, the ballroom was grand and spectacular with humongous chandeliers and a giant bay window...where you could see the SNOWflakes gently falling!
The food was delicious and served on heated, computerized (!) marble tables...so if something is overlooked the sensors detect the omission and the situation is attended to! Wow! If you go, don't forget to ask to sample 'the grey stuff' because it's delicious (if you don't believe me, ask the dishes!).
The best part of all is that the Beast himself will accept visitors after you dine...and he gives a pretty big hug!
We still have to go back in 2014 because the new MINE RIDE will be open! We were allowed a sneak peek through the dwarves fence and it is very exciting to be able to see what is to come!
