I've really enjoyed watching Elizabeth Hartman's two Craftsy classes, the FREE Creative Quilt Backs and the Inspired Modern Quilts, a full-content class you can purchase.
As I wrote last week, I bought both of Elizabeth's books - I love her style and fresh approach to quilting...and her extremely neat and organized methods! The first book, The Practical Guide to Patchwork, is a great overview of quilting steps along with some beautiful projects to start you on your way.
This book takes you to the next step. There are new designs and new techniques Elizabeth shares and plenty of inspiration in the beautiful quilt projects offered. The quilts in this stunning book (just look at that cover!) take you 'beyond the basics'...and some look really complicated. I think it's just a matter of carefully following the steps and doing the prep-work needed: Elizabeth recommends cutting, labelling with post-it notes, and sorting into sandwich baggies, to get ready. There are lots of tips along the way and alternate ideas for colours. The back of the book has a great section on construction basics (cutting, piecing, applique, etc.) so if you need a little guidance in that department, she's got that covered.
I love this book and I love Ms. Harman's quilt designs. I'm not quite ready to jump into one of these quilts yet...I still have to work on the class projects from Craftsy as well as her first book! You can use the link to the right to take you directly to Craftsy and Elizabeth's class if you want to learn what Elizabeth Hartman can teach you.
