I first discovered Elizabeth Hartman when I signed up for the free Craftsy class, Creative Quilt Backs. She is a modern quilter and pattern designer, author of 2 awesome books (more about those later!), and an amazing instructor.
When Craftsy and Elizabeth teamed up to offer the Inspired Modern Quilts class I knew right away this was something I needed to take! I am really enjoying the exposure to the modern quilting world, starting with Angela Walter's Quilting Negative Space and now with this class. I am seeing quilts and quilting design in a whole new light!
In this amazing course, Elizabeth leads us through the construction of 7 small projects - all beautiful pieces which can be translated into larger quilts. I really appreciate Ms. Hartman's attention to detail and organizational skills and tips when it comes to quilting. She has a very orderly process for tackling the steps in quilting - something I am drawn to myself.
She also demonstrates how to make two very useful items for the sewing room (which I have shown you myself!), a portable design wall and a pressing board. I love Elizabeth's style and presentation and I'm very excited to try her patterns for modern quilts. The only problem is figuring out which one I want to make first!
If you are interested in modern quilting and would like to learn 7 different patterns, definitely check out Elizabeth's class. Craftsy has given me a safe link for you to use (to the right of this post) so you can watch the free previews or sign up for the class (which is ON SALE now!!). You can also join the FREE Creative Quilt Backs class - it's a really neat way to think about the BACK of your quilts. Instead of using one fabric for the whole backing Elizabeth shows how to think outside the box and make the back of the quilt as interesting as the front! By simply adding in some other fabrics in an easy-to-piece back you can get amazing, and surprising, results! (And you can't beat FREE! LOL!)
