I learned about this wonderful book on my sewing machine group and was able to find it at the clear-out book dealer for a good price. It is a wonderful reference book to have in my workshop and I recommend it to anyone who uses a sewing machine.
The soft-cover book is packed with tons of information about all the different kinds of sewing machine feet and attachments, from the most basic to the lesser-known specialty feet. There are more than you might know!
It starts with a great over-view of the anatomy of a sewing machine, essential tools for a sewing kit, useful extras, different kind of threads, needles, and fabric - a very comprehensive look at all components of sewing!
Next are pages of basic feet (straight-stitch, zig-zag, zipper, button, hem, etc.): what the look like, how they work, how to use them, as well as an idea file on alternate uses and creative techniques.
The specialty feet section describes the more common (walking foot, stitch-in-the-ditch foot) to the very specific (eg. flat fell foot). If you need to sew something this book will probably show you what foot can do the job! It is fun to see all the possibilities and options - surely maximizing what you can do with your machine.
The end of the book offers a buyer's guide, trouble-shooting section, and glossary. I love having a reference tool with a definitive answer to all the sewing-machine feet questions I might come up with - now and in the future!
