You may already know how much I like shopping at Connecting Threads but here's another reason to enjoy their website: the fabric Design Table. This tool allows you to add up to 8 fabrics to the screen to preview how they go together with other fabrics you've selected. This is very useful if you are auditioning various colours and patterns for suitability in your design.
Once you select a fabric you can click the 'add to design table' to add a sample square to the table. In the design table window you can drag the squares around to where you want them, change the size %, and even change all the squares to a grey-scale view - perfect for checking the values of fabrics in relation to each other.
I found this very useful when picking fabrics for my latest quilt project. Being able to see the choices side-by-side allowed me to decide which fabrics stayed and which ones to delete. In the end, it saves money to be pretty sure of selections before purchasing them on-line.
