I was very excited to be invited by the people at Better Homes and Gardens to review a skillet set from their new Kitchen Cookware Collection - especially since I just threw away my previous 8.5" pan because the non-stick finish was coming off in the food! I use my skillets almost daily and I seem to go through the non-stick ones like crazy. I guess I really put them to the test!
This set includes both an 8.5" and 10" skillet and features hard-anodized construction for even heat distribution. (That just means the aluminum is treated to form a stronger, more durable surface). The pans have stainless steel and silicone handles which are very comfortable to hold and look fantastic. My first impression when I saw the skillets was that they look like the professional models I've seen at the higher-end stores and on cooking shows! The Better Homes and Gardens Cookware Collection items are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart so they're accessible to almost everyone and have a great price-point. (You can also find them on-line at Wal-Mart.com). They
even have matching utensils (really solidly made and very attractive!)
I tried out the pans, cooked with them, and washed them. I am certainly impressed with the quality and wouldn't hesitate to recommend checking them out at Wal-Mart. I'm going to do a follow-up post in a few months since that's the real test - how well does the coating hold up? I definitely trust the Better Homes and Gardens name and since there's a lifetime limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, I know they stand behind their products. When my mother saw the pans she was really enthusiastic and said she was going to have to look for them the next time she's at Wal-Mart in the States!
Here is a quick video review of the BHG Skillets and I also demonstrate how to make a simple omelet - so much easier to cook in a pan that doesn't stick!
oOOH I love this review!! I'm in the new market for new pans... and I have to tell you *Thank you* because seeing a demo really helps my decision making!! I'm going to go buy these pans right away!! :) so happy!
