You do not have to have a wok to make stir-fry and the method is fast and simple. I don't really use any particular recipe - just cut up some meat (chicken/pork/beef) and whatever vegetables you enjoy (but the most used would be onions, carrots, celery, snow peas, peppers, broccoli). Add some oil to a large pan and stir-fry over high heat: start with the meat and when it is no longer pink, push it to the sides of the pan and add the vegetables: onions first, then the harder root veg, peppers, and finally top with the bean sprouts. When they are softened a bit, stir the meat back into the mix and add your sauce ingredients. I like to use a mix of water (about 1/2 a cup or so), 2 Tbsp each of sherry, soy sauce, cider vinegar, 1 Tbsp corn starch, 1 tsp sugar, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. You can also use hoisin sauce, or if you really don't have (or don't want to buy) all those ingredients, they do sell flavour packets of stir-fry or chop suey mix (usually in the Asian section or gravy section). These are good to keep in the cupboard if you don't have all the other ingredients on hand. You can usually find what else you need to concoct some sort of stir-fry on short notice (and I always have a big sack of rice in the pantry)! Hope that helps!
